These four people, all key figures in Nashville-area organizations committed to supporting their community, are coming to terms with the departure of one of their strongest supporters — metaphorically and literally.

Jurrell Casey, the former Tennessee Titan whose talents the Broncos acquired via a March trade, made his mark in Nashville not just on the football field, but also in the communities that supported him for so long. And now that the two-time Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee is leaving, there's a void for each of them.

Jurrell Casey and his wife Ryann hosted a shopping spree at Nashville Toys and Books for children whose parents are incarcerated or deported. Tennessee ranks third in the nation for the number of children whose parents are in jail.

The Nashville Public Defender’s Office, led by Public Defender Dawn Deaner, is made up of around 45 assistant public defenders.

Their job is to defend suspects who cannot afford a private attorney. One of those assistant public defenders is Ryann Casey, who is married to Titans Defensive End Jurrell Casey.

They met at the University of Southern California in a class called Adolescent Gang Prevention, a fitting spot for both Jurrell Casey and future fiancée, Ryann Gray, given their respective backgrounds.
